What We Do

Under the leadership of the vice president for Information Technology and chief information officer (VPIT-CIO), Information and Technology Services (ITS) supports U-M faculty, researchers, staff, and students in their use of technology to teach, learn, research, work, and be leaders in their fields. We support the U-M community by:

  • Serving as a strategic partner for enterprise thinking and leadership in the technology space.
  • Delivering highly-innovative technology services that enable U-M students, faculty, and staff to achieve their most important insights and discoveries and to share those contributions globally.
  • Partnering with schools, colleges, campuses, and units to provide core systems and infrastructure that are secure and compliant, cost effective, and that reduce the administrative burden for academic and auxiliary units.
  • Providing a university-wide Information Assurance program that provides IT security, privacy, and data governance capabilities and technologies for all three campuses (in addition to closely partnering with Michigan Medicine in this domain).
