Cable television delivers programming using clear QAM, a communication standard that allows televisions to receive programming without a separate cable box. The most important requirement is that your television include a QAM tuner. Most good-quality televisions have a QAM tuner, but it’s important to check the specifications before purchasing a new TV that you want to connect to cable.

Adding a DVR
If your DVR tuner supports Clear QAM it will be able to record all digital and HD channels.
TiVO DVRs do not recognize channel numbers with a dash or dot (e.g., 2.1, 4.1, etc.). These channels use local numbers and we are required to carry them with this numbering format. TiVO boxes are able to tune them in, but they cannot record scheduled programs.
To resolve this problem, we’ve duplicated these channels in standard definition on channels 301–313 so you can record the content there.
