API Directory

The U-M API Directory is a repository containing institutional data from U-M's missions—teaching & learning, research, clinical care, public service, and administration.

An API, or Application Programing Interface, can be used to securely connect one product or service with another product or service. The API Directory promotes best practices in security and provides reusable business logic.

About the U-M API Directory

The API Directory and its governance structure is a partnership between Health Information Technology & Services (HITS) and Information and Technology Services (ITS). The directory incorporates the viewpoints and requirements from both organizations, as well as representative unit IT groups.

The API Governance Council, currently in pilot phase, is based on the U-M Data Governance structure. The council addresses the issues that arise when sharing important institutional data.
